Despite protestations to NATO and the EU by Greek authorities, Turkish violations of Greek air space continue with another 15 instances recorded yesterday, Monday 27th of June.
Greek authorities said that seven Turkish military jets were flying over Greek airspace over the northeastern, central and southeastern Aegean. The Turkish jets also entered the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) on two occasions, authorities said.
The aircraft, two of which were armed, were identified and intercepted according to international law, without further incident.
In 2014 there were over 2,000 violations of Greek airspace by the Turkish military, a point that was not lost to Russian authorities who pointed it out when their fighter jet was downed by Turkey at the Turkey-Syria border for being in their airspace for a few seconds.
