On the 19th August 2016, the Greek Society at the University of Technology Sydney, UTS Hellenic, hosted “Games Night” at Camperdown Hotel.
With five competitive rounds of questions, friends on different tables locked wits/intellegance and tested their collective knowledge.
What should of been a general knowledge question ‘Which animal featured on the 2 cent coin?’, became a question that got everyone raking their brain for the answer. Some suggested it was a typo and should of been 5 cents. But no, indeed it was the 2 cent coin. The answer was the Frilled Neck Lizard. We all leant a bit more, what should of been general knowledge.

The ‘Back to School’ category, was also challenging. From trying to remember the mathematical formulas to help find the answer to the questions, to remembering certain dates in history, everyone defiantly felt as if they were back at school.
In between trivia, there were also fun little games involving one or two members from each table. However, this didn’t stop everyone from enjoying the fun, yet competitive games, as we watched, laughed and cheered for our team members.
One of the funniest games played was to try and pop the balloon that was on your team partners back, without using hands. From first hand experience, it was fun and difficult at the same time.

The most anticipated questions, the Greek category was last. It was one of the most exciting trivia round of questions. My favourite question being to finish the next lyric line of the song. From the moment the beginning part of the song played, I immediately recognised it as Dimitri Mitropanos’ song ‘Ta Ladadika’. The song defiantly made me want to start dancing.
At the end of the night, friends on other tables who were competition during the games started talking, laughing, drinking and dancing as the enjoyable music started.
It was an entertaining and exciting night hosted by UTS Hellenic.
UTS Hellenic’s next event, the Annual Melbourne Trip is happening in September.
