A new house for the legacy of Nobel Prize-winning poet Odysseas Elytis

The works of Greek poet, painter, and 1979 Nobel Prize winner Odysseas Elytis have been analysed by art experts and curators all around the world, while his poems have been studied in Greek schools for decades. The Greek Ministry of Culture is creating a museum house in Plaka, Athens designed to look like Elytis’s real-life home to hold his paintings, poems, notebooks and personal belongings.

NIS uncovers illegal network transferring immigrants from Somalia to Greece via Istanbul

Greek Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Notis Mitarakis has released the findings of an NIS secret report saying Somali immigrants have been purchasing their passage to Lesvos and Chios for between 500 to 800 euros to be transferred illegally to the Greek islands via boats from Turkey’s coasts. The investigation has helped to locate and stop over 2,500 illegal immigrants from Somalia, who were ready to cross into Greek territory from Turkey.
